So it looks like I’m going to do a day trip to Gen Con on Friday this year. I’m anxious and excited and scared and hopeful and worried and… You get the idea. So I’m gonna write out what I’m looking forward to and what I’m concerned about and maybe that’ll help. A list of the good and the bad. Gen Pros vs. Gen Cons, I suppose.

If you were to run a Board Games 101 session to he

If you were to run a Board Games 101 session to help introduce people outside of the hobby or just entering the hobby, what one game would you make sure to include?

Mine is Fluxx. You may not like the game as a hobby person, you may not like it as a new player, but you’ll know what you did and didn’t like so you can be shown more games that are in line with what you do like.

I’m going to be running an event and want a small handful of games that are good examples of their mechanics and are easily learned, played, and talked about.

I’m currently planning:
- Fluxx
- Onitama
- Codenames

I have other ideas but want to see what others suggest.

SolForge Fusion is a game of combining half-decks

SolForge Fusion is a game of combining half-decks to create a playable deck against another player who has done the same. This removes the extensive deckbuilding from the game, as opposed to other games like Magic: The Gathering or Lorcana. This makes building decks faster, but does faster always mean better? Or does the faster deck building make this game lose its sol?
