To my friends going to Gen Con! I am considering a day trip!

Part of me really misses conventions, seeing friends, playing games, catching up with everyone.

Part of me is scared shitless about bringing home COVID or concrud and getting Sam and / or Ginny sick.

I recently played through Assassin's Creed: Origins and found it to be too open world and not enough Assassin's Creed. I started Odyssey and it feels like it's going to be even more open world. Is Valhalla more focused on sneaking and killing or is it more open world as well?

If you were to run a Board Games 101 session to he

If you were to run a Board Games 101 session to help introduce people outside of the hobby or just entering the hobby, what one game would you make sure to include?

Mine is Fluxx. You may not like the game as a hobby person, you may not like it as a new player, but you’ll know what you did and didn’t like so you can be shown more games that are in line with what you do like.

I’m going to be running an event and want a small handful of games that are good examples of their mechanics and are easily learned, played, and talked about.

I’m currently planning:
- Fluxx
- Onitama
- Codenames

I have other ideas but want to see what others suggest.

SolForge Fusion is a game of combining half-decks

SolForge Fusion is a game of combining half-decks to create a playable deck against another player who has done the same. This removes the extensive deckbuilding from the game, as opposed to other games like Magic: The Gathering or Lorcana. This makes building decks faster, but does faster always mean better? Or does the faster deck building make this game lose its sol?

I just spent two hours (with Ginny and other interruptions) learning Ark Nova. This is, without question, one of the most thorough and well written rulebooks I've ever seen. Huge props to @capstone_games for the work.
