January 2017 – Coffee boats in space
January 2017 has come to an end and I managed to play a game every day. I’m behind on my 100 new-to-me challenge, but things generally start slow for me. Let’s look at what I’ve been playing.

I had some plans for my boardgaming in 2016. Some of them were successful, but others weren’t. I’ve made even more plans for 2017 with a bit more focus this time. Let’s talk about the plans for the new year.
As much as I love boardgaming, life has a way of taking priority. I’ve been quite busy since my last update, but thought I’d do a post to update everyone and actually talk about some gaming!
I really enjoy playing dice games, but I don’t ever tend to do particularly well. Mystic ScROLLs changes up the normal dice rolling, adding in real-time elements and expanding options. Is the game magical, or does it just seem a like a curse?
Tiny Epic Galaxies is a game where players roll dice and select actions to expand their faction’s influence in the galaxy faster than their opponents can. It’s a game I really enjoy for a number of reasons. The Beyond the Black expansion adds new options for players, including pilots and exploring unknown space. Let’s talk about the base game and the expansion.
I got a lot of games at Gen Con 2016. No, really a LOT of games. But I also got to play some games, and while talking about purchases is fun, I’d like to discuss the games I got to play and what I thought about them. Some of the games are out now, some won’t be out until later this year, but I had a great time at the convention.
