I’ve been playing games for a while, and there aren’t many games set in the wild west that make you experience the theme. Spurs: A Tale in the Old West is a game that is looking to change that with various missions and character abilities.
Shane Tyree is a friend of mine who possesses as much artistic talent as I lack, which is an amazing amount. He’s done a bunch of art for a variety of games and has started his own Kickstarter project.
I enjoy games that involve a push your luck mechanic. The internal debate of taking another card or rolling the dice just one more time is a favorite, especially when it pays off. Stardock Games, known for their video games, has set sail into the world of board and card games with Dead Man’s Draw.
While at Gen Con 2013, I got to check out a great party game called Belle of the Ball. Well, not a party game, but a game about parties. I’ve had a chance to play the Print and Play version a few times.
When the guys at Clever Mojo games have a prototype at a convention, I’ll go out of my way to make sure I get to try it. Last year at GenCon I got to try King’s Forge. The game is currently up on Kickstarter, as of August 1st, and is already funded.
I’ve been following Chris Urinko on Twitter for a while @Battlejack. I enjoy when he posts, cause I’ve seen some very pretty laser cut pieces. Now he has a Kickstarter running to help make laser cut dice, boxes, towers, and other geeky items. How do they stack up?
