She blinded me with SCIENCE!!!

Before I went to Origins, I saw some information online for a game called Compounded. I didn’t know much about the game, but I knew it was about Chemistry, and I knew it was very pretty. I don’t want to say I’ll buy a game just cause it’s pretty, but I have to admit that I have done just that in the past. I also really wanted to get a look at it, as one of my good friends is a Chemistry Grad Student. I saw that the game was coming out through Dice Hate Me Games and that they...

If you happen to be a regular to the site, you’ll notice there’s now an advertisement on the right hand side of the frontpage. I was approached by Clever Mojo Games about putting up the ad for their Kickstarter project of releasing Alien Frontiers on the iPad. With Alien Frontiers being one of my highest rated games and Clever Mojo Games coming out with more and more awesome looking products, I wholeheartedly agreed. I’ll be putting up a review of Alien Frontiers soon, and my review of Compounded is waiting on approval from the designer. After that, I’m planning on...

Hi everybody! 0

Hi everybody!

Wanted to make a special hello and welcome to everyone coming from DiceHateMe.com and really wanted to thank Chris (@DiceHateMe) for the shout out. I had a blast with his crew at Origins 2012 and can’t wait to see them all again. For those looking around, you can look at the games I teach and the companies I volunteer for, or ask me anything you’d like about gaming. I warn you, I’m sometimes a little harsh, but I’m always honest. If I don’t like something about a game, I will tell you up front. Every game is good for someone,...

Controlling the Chaos

As I posted a while back, I have a lot of games. Over 800 board games, counting expansions. The issue with having this many games is that you eventually need to keep track of what you have so you don’t buy multiples and so people who get you gifts don’t get you games you already have. Of course, in keeping track of the titles you have, it’s very easy to forget to add to the database that you have this game or that expansion. There’s also the issue of where the new games go, and sometimes where they end up...

Tahiti in Columbus

One of the games I got to try at Origins was Tahiti, which is currently on Kickstarter. While I am backing it already, due to how the game looked and knowing the designer, I thought it would be a great opportunity to learn the game from the designer himself. Dave sat down with four of us and taught us the game, and I was blown away.

So I meant to have a post up here every night after the day’s events. However, when the hotel’s internet is flaky at best and coming back after talking and running around all day makes you want to just sleep, it becomes a little hard. However, if any of you are following the @demo_ken Twitter account, you’ll have seen lots of pictures and updates during the con. I’ll lay out the main events and things of note below the cut.
