Pre-pear for a great time – A Pairs Kickstarter Preview

Pairs is a Cheapass Game currently up on Kickstarter. Note that the company behind it is actually Cheapass, but the games they create are some of the best simple and quick games I’ve ever seen. Pairs is a card based push your luck game. In the game, the goal is not to win, but simply to not lose. The game plays from two to eight players and takes minutes to play. Rocketman! – Gravwell review

Back at Gen Con 2013, I got to play a game that was popular at the show called Gravwell: Escape from the 9th dimension. I’d heard some friends talk about the game positively, but I didn’t get a chance to pick the game up. Now that it’s out at stores, I thought I’d give it another look.

Yarr! Do ye feel lucky, matey? – A review of Dead Man’s Draw + Giveaway!

I enjoy games that involve a push your luck mechanic. The internal debate of taking another card or rolling the dice just one more time is a favorite, especially when it pays off. Stardock Games, known for their video games, has set sail into the world of board and card games with Dead Man’s Draw.

Tessen Review – Speedy Set Collection

While at Origins, I got to meet Chris Zinsli, better known on Twitter as @CardboardEdison. It was a rocky introduction, but he introduced me to Tessen, a game he and his wife designed, and offered to let me play it later that night at the UnPub area.
